Course description

Medical German C1 course aims at language proficiency levels B2-C1. The course is specifically designed for doctors and medical professionals from all around the world who need to communicate in German in the fields of health or medicine.

The course focuses on the main areas of language learning: reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. Much emphasis is given to the communication skills required in a hospital or clinic environment.

The content of the courses is adapted to the language skills of the students.

What skills and abilities refer to B2 and C1 levels according to GER
(CEFR: The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)?


B2 certifiers a language competence at the level of independent language use. A language learner can understand the main idea of complex texts with specific and abstract topics including technical discussions on one’s own special field. Spontaneous and fluent communication with native speakers should be possible without too much effort for either party. A language learner should also be able to produce a detailed text, discuss a wide range of topics and explain a viewpoint on topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.


C1 proficient speaker can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts including implicit meaning. Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. Can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Can produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organizational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices.
