German Language Course Visa

A language course visa is the type of educational visa issued for foreigners intending to complete an intensive language course lasting 3-12 months. Applicants are expected to attend a course that includes at least 18 hours of German classes per week. Elefant Language School offers various intensive German language courses with 20 academic hours.

With a German Language Visa you can

  • attend an intensive German language course (more than 18 academic hours per week)
  • extend a visa if you are already in Germany

The German Language Course Visa does not permit you to work in Germany.

Essential documents for the German Language Course Visa:

  • Confirmed registration in the language course at Elefant Language School or certificate of enrollment for the visa (contract)

  • A valid passport (with a minimum 3 months validity period following your planned date of return and not older than 10 years)

  • Two duly completed visa application forms

  • Proof of health insurance that covers the entire period of stay in Germany

  • Three photocopies of the passport ID page

  • Two recently taken portrait photos

  • Proof of accommodation in Germany – for the entire period of stay

  • Proof of a paid visa fee

  • Copies of the previously held Schengen visas (if applicable)

  • A motivation letter for attending the language course

  • Proof of funds for the entirety of your stay – 10,332 euros per year (submit any of the following documents):

    • Blocked account “Sperrkonto” (e.g. Fintiba or Sutor Bank) – 10,236 euros per year

    • Scholarship award certificate

    • A letter of commitment by someone hosting you in Germany or a letter of declaration from your parents/guardians declaring that they will financially support you for the entire period of stay in Germany
